Mumbai, June 19: Political tensions are escalating within the Shiv Sena (UBT) in Maharashtra, fueled by internal strife and alleged rebellion among MPs. BJP legislator Sanjay Upadhyay has launched a sharp attack on the UBT’s position, addressing issues such as population balance, conversion, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech at the VivaTech 2026 conference in Paris.
Upadhyay referenced Maulana Sajjad Nomani’s comments questioning India’s census and the majority status of Hindus. He warned that this serves as a caution for the entire Hindu community. He stated that some individuals speak of Gazwa-e-Hind and running India according to Sharia, emphasizing the need for Hindus to remain vigilant. He expressed concern that if conversion rates continue to rise and the Hindu population declines, it could disrupt the population balance, leading to severe consequences.
He urged the Hindu community to stay alert, focus on their families, and enhance social awareness. Upadhyay cautioned that a deteriorating population balance could result in challenging circumstances in the future.
In light of reports regarding dissatisfaction and rebellion among some MPs under Uddhav Thackeray, Upadhyay also targeted statements made by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut. He remarked that Raut’s threats are unlikely to be taken seriously in Maharashtra. Upadhyay accused Raut of making nonsensical statements to appease his political leadership.
He asserted that any political party’s leadership should foster an atmosphere of respect, trust, and dialogue among its MPs, legislators, and officials. However, if leaders are ignored, humiliated, or publicly criticized, discontent within the organization is inevitable. He claimed that Raut’s approach is largely responsible for the current state of UBT, quipping that if a leader has such an advisor, they do not need enemies. He warned that such circumstances would inevitably harm the organization.
Praising Prime Minister Modi’s address at the VivaTech 2026 in Paris, Upadhyay noted that India is rapidly advancing in the fields of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI). He highlighted that Modi emphasized that AI should not only signify technological advancement but also inclusive development. The use of technology must focus on public welfare and human well-being to bring about positive changes in people’s lives.
Upadhyay stated that currently, nearly half of the global digital transactions are occurring in India, indicating the country’s swift adoption of digital technologies and AI-based systems. He mentioned that both urban youth and rural citizens are becoming part of the digital revolution. The changes in India’s tech sector are revolutionary, and the country is firmly establishing its identity in the AI domain. He concluded by noting that Modi has called for a united effort globally for human welfare and responsible use of technology.
