Mumbai, May 4: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has expressed his support for Mamata Banerjee following her recent electoral defeat. He stated, “I want to clarify that losing in spirit and losing an election are two different matters. While Mamata Banerjee may have faced defeat, her spirit remains unbroken.”
In a conversation with reporters, Raut emphasized that it was not easy for the BJP to win the elections in West Bengal. He pointed out that it is well-known that the BJP and the Election Commission formed an alliance solely to wave the victory flag in West Bengal. He asserted that this alliance is the reason the BJP has managed to establish its presence in the state.
Raut further claimed that it was no small feat that, under the Election Commission’s direction, the names of 9 million voters were removed from the electoral rolls. The primary aim of this removal was to create favorable conditions for the BJP, paving the way for their victory.
He expressed concern that the current situation indicates that the Election Commission is no longer a part of our democratic framework. Additionally, he noted that the Supreme Court is also unwilling to listen to their grievances. “In such circumstances, who will listen to us?” he questioned, adding that even the Prime Minister is not open to dialogue.
Sanjay Raut concluded by stating that the BJP has exerted tremendous effort to ensure favorable conditions for their victory in the state.
