Lucknow, February 19: Sanjay Nishad, a minister in the Uttar Pradesh government and president of the Nishad Party, has sharply criticized Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav. During a discussion in the UP Assembly’s budget session, Nishad commented on the uproar caused by SP legislators, who disrupted proceedings and snatched speech papers. He quoted, “We were looted by our own, while outsiders had no strength. The boat sank where there was little water.”
In an interview, Fisheries Minister Sanjay Nishad stated, “These people have been in power for 30 years and have only looted. The Sachar Committee report has exposed their conduct, character, and face. They claim to represent backward, Dalit, and minority interests, but in reality, they inflict pain, sorrow, and humiliation in the name of PDA. They silence our voices. We must speak the truth: in 30 years, if they allocated even one rupee for Nishads, let them prove it. They consumed all the funds that came from Delhi. The public needs to know how they extorted money through force.”
Nishad further expressed concerns for his safety, saying, “Our leaders were killed; we will speak out. We need protection, or they will eliminate us too. Why was there no CBI investigation when our leaders were murdered during the SP’s tenure? If they can locate Azam Khan’s buffalo, why can’t they find the killers of our leaders? The Social Justice Committee report indicates that while there are 27 milkmen and 23 leather workers, where have the others gone? These are people who consume resources, crocodiles feeding on fishermen. My name is listed as SC in the presidential notification, so why was there a need to categorize Nishads as OBC in 1994?”
He accused the opposition of being cunning, saying, “They chose a name that would spark controversy, and later, when the publicity is generated, they will change it. I believe no controversial film title should be based on caste or religion. The title should be decided before the film is made. A law should be enacted to prevent this.”
Responding to Arshad Madani’s statement about Muslims being unstoppable until the Day of Judgment, Nishad remarked, “Under their leadership, Muslims are left ignorant and idle. The Muslim community are citizens of this country and our brothers, but they are suffering due to these dishonest individuals. Muslims in India are divided into castes.” He also advised Swami Avimukteshwaranand to stay away from politics and focus on promoting religion.
