Mumbai, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : Sanjay Mishra is a beloved figure in Bollywood, known for bringing smiles to audiences with his performances. His roles in films like “Golmaal,” “Dhamal,” “Vadh,” “Bhool Bhulaiyaa,” and “Aankhon Dekhi” have solidified his reputation as a versatile actor. However, there was a time when he stepped away from acting entirely to work at a dhaba in Rishikesh.
Born on October 6, 1963, in Varanasi, Mishra spent his childhood there before studying at the National School of Drama in Delhi, graduating in 1989. He began his acting career in theater and television, gradually making his way to the big screen. His film debut came with “Oh Darling! Yeh Hai India!” followed by notable performances in “Satya,” “Dil Se,” “Wajood,” “Rajkumar,” and “Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani.”
A significant personal loss, the death of his father, deeply affected him. In the wake of this tragedy, Mishra chose to distance himself from the film industry, moving to Rishikesh to live a simpler life. There, he worked at a dhaba, preparing omelets for patrons. This period was challenging, yet he sought to lead an ordinary life, away from the glitz of Mumbai.
Interestingly, some customers recognized him, asking if he was the same Sanjay Mishra from “Golmaal.” Instead of acknowledging his fame, he humorously claimed to be the actor’s lookalike.
Fate had other plans for him. Director Rohit Shetty encouraged Mishra to return to acting, leading to his role in “All the Best.” This marked the resurgence of his film career.
Since then, Mishra has not looked back. His comedic performances in “Golmaal: Fun Unlimited” and “Dhamal” delighted audiences, while his serious role in “Aankhon Dekhi” showcased his dramatic talent. His work in this film earned him critical acclaim and a Filmfare Award for Best Actor.
Sanjay Mishra’s journey is a testament to resilience and the enduring passion for acting, proving that sometimes, a detour can lead to a remarkable comeback.
