Mumbai, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : Megastar Amitabh Bachchan reminisced about his experiences working with the late filmmaker Yash Chopra, highlighting the director’s remarkable ability to handle diverse film genres simultaneously. During a recent episode of his quiz show “Koun Banega Crorepati 18,” Amitabh recalled the contrasting styles of two of Chopra’s famous films, “Kabhi Kabhie” and “Deewaar.”
While promoting his upcoming film “Udaan Tiri,” actor Ayushmann Khurrana performed the iconic song “Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein,” which stirred fond memories for Amitabh. He expressed his appreciation for Khurrana’s performance, saying, “Thank you for refreshing so many old memories. This song is from our film ‘Kabhi Kabhie,’ directed by Yash Chopra.”
Amitabh elaborated on the distinct themes of the two films, noting that “Kabhi Kabhie” was a romantic drama, while “Deewaar” presented a serious and intense narrative. He marveled at Chopra’s versatility, stating, “It’s astonishing that Yash Chopra, known for his romantic films, was simultaneously directing a film like ‘Deewaar.’ Just two days after finishing the shoot for ‘Deewaar,’ we began filming ‘Kabhi Kabhie.’ His ability to adapt to different filming environments was a hallmark of his direction.”
“Deewaar,” released in 1975, featured Amitabh alongside Shashi Kapoor and told the story of two brothers from a poor family whose lives take them down different paths. The film also starred notable actors such as Neetu Singh, Nirupa Roy, and Parveen Babi. The following year, “Kabhi Kabhie,” a romantic musical drama, showcased Amitabh with Waheeda Rehman, Shashi Kapoor, Rakhi, Rishi Kapoor, and Neetu Singh.
“Koun Banega Crorepati 18” airs on Sony Entertainment Television.
