New Delhi: India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with Palestine‘s Foreign and Expatriates Minister Warsan Agabekian on Friday. The two leaders discussed development cooperation, the Gaza peace plan, and regional progress during their meeting. Agabekian is in India to participate in the second India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ meeting.
Sharing photos of the meeting on the social media platform X, Jaishankar said, “Pleasure meeting Palestine’s Foreign Minister Warsan Agabekian. We exchanged views on the Gaza peace plan and regional development. Reviewed our development cooperation and agreed on initiatives to further enhance it.”
On her arrival in India for the India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ meeting, Agabekian posted on X, “I have arrived in India to take part in the second India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ meeting. This visit reaffirms our strong partnership between Palestine and India and our shared commitment to cooperation with the Arab world.”
Speaking to a news agency on Thursday, Agabekian described the upcoming meeting as a platform to discuss key issues including the Palestinian cause, Gaza reconstruction, the peace plan, and other matters important to India and the Arab world.
When asked about India’s role in advancing peace between Palestine and Israel, the External Affairs Minister said, “India is a friend to both Palestine and Israel, placing it in a unique position to act as a bridge and offer ideas. We hope India will actively participate in any peace efforts and do whatever is necessary.”
Agabekian added, “We see the meeting as a platform to address current issues. Discussions will focus on Palestine, Gaza, Gaza’s reconstruction, the peace plan, and other important topics for India and the Arab world.”
