New Delhi, August 29: RP Singh, spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), addressed various issues recently. He commented on the potential discussions regarding India’s purchase of Javelin anti-tank systems from the United States, emphasizing the Indian Army’s need for such systems. Singh stated that if talks are underway in this direction, they should be welcomed as India strengthens its defense capabilities.
Regarding the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, Singh affirmed that Prime Minister Modi’s policy is clear: the law must be implemented. The government is working diligently on this, and an additional parliamentary session may be convened if necessary. He assured that the government would take essential steps to implement the act in line with the country’s and the Prime Minister’s intentions.
On the possibility of a special parliamentary session, Singh indicated that it entirely depends on the government. If there is a need for significant legislation, the government may call for a session.
Commenting on the restoration of the X Media handle of the organizer of Mohan Bhagwat‘s New York event, Singh suggested that the account was likely suspended due to pressure from a certain group. He welcomed its restoration and stated that those advocating for freedom of expression should not impose questions or pressure on that very freedom.
In light of the recent arrest of a couple linked to an ISI espionage network in Delhi and the sending of Indian SIM cards to Pakistan, Singh remarked that there are individuals in the country allegedly working for the ISI. Indian intelligence agencies continuously monitor such cases and take action as needed.
Regarding the tragedy in Nepal, where over 500 fatalities have been reported, Singh expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased. He expressed hope that the Nepalese government would ensure the safety of those stranded. The Indian government is in contact with Indians in both Nepal and China. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, 320 people are reported missing in Nepal, while contact has been established with about 400 Indian citizens in the Tibet region, confirming their safety. The government is actively working to evacuate Indians stranded abroad.
During the SCO summit, Singh mentioned that Prime Minister Modi’s proposed bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin could cover significant issues, including defense and strategic cooperation.
On the ‘Echo of Lies’ campaign, Singh accused Rahul Gandhi of consistently spreading falsehoods and making statements against Sanatan. He noted that Gandhi targets Sanatan under the guise of student-related issues. Singh referenced Gandhi’s comments on Manusmriti, suggesting he should also discuss views on women in the religious texts of other faiths.
