BJP Spokesperson Criticizes DMK and TVK Over Monsoon Preparations and Infrastructure Issues

BJP spokesperson Narayanan Tirupati slams DMK and TVK for poor infrastructure and delays in smart metering projects in Tamil Nadu.

Chennai, October 19 (Daily Kiran) : The monsoon season is upon Tamil Nadu, and BJP state spokesperson Narayanan Tirupati is voicing strong criticism against the ruling DMK and TVK governments. He highlighted the lack of proper road maintenance and infrastructure readiness, despite assurances that preparations for the rainy season were complete.

Tirupati pointed out that while the government has been focusing on the smart metering project, both past and present administrations have failed to implement it effectively. He noted that the central government has been advocating for this initiative for the past two to three years. Although tenders were available at lower costs, the project remains unexecuted. He emphasized that smart meters could significantly reduce electricity theft and ensure accurate billing.

“While the monsoon preparations are claimed to be complete, what about the roads?” Tirupati asked. He expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of roads, which he said are impassable for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers. He criticized both the previous DMK government and the current TVK administration for neglecting road repairs, especially after the stormwater drain project was completed.

He warned that without proper roads, heavy rainfall would continue to disrupt daily life. The narrowing of roads has led to contractors profiting at the expense of quality infrastructure, he added.

Tirupati also reiterated the importance of implementing smart metering, stating that it would benefit both the citizens of Tamil Nadu and the government. He urged the authorities to prioritize this initiative to combat electricity theft and improve billing accuracy.

In response to a question, he criticized Chief Minister Vijay for not taking timely action. He noted that while welfare measures for specific constituencies are acceptable, it is concerning that development projects seem to favor areas where TVK has won elections.

Regarding allegations against Udhayanidhi Stalin of the DMK, Tirupati stated that the party has a history of similar issues. He referenced the arrest of a party member, Sadiq, and the recent apprehension of TVK members linked to a significant drug trafficking operation involving over 135 kilograms of methamphetamine.

Tirupati concluded that TVK must adopt a clear stance on these issues, or they risk becoming a significant problem. He expressed concern that drug dealers and illegal elements are hiding behind the ruling party’s facade, which poses a serious threat to the state’s stability.
