Free Treatment for Thalassemia-Affected Siblings in Jalna Thanks to Ayushman Bharat Scheme

Two siblings in Jalna receive free treatment for thalassemia under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, easing their familys financial burden.

Jalna, October 19 (Daily Kiran) : In Jalna, Maharashtra, a family has found significant relief through the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (ABPM-JAY). Under this initiative, two siblings suffering from thalassemia are receiving free treatment at Sanjeevani Hospital.

For Sandeep Sable’s family, managing the medical expenses for their two children afflicted with a serious blood disorder had become a daunting financial challenge. However, the medical assistance provided by this central government health scheme has allowed them to continue their children’s treatment without the full weight of the costs.

Sandeep’s son, Sambodhi, began experiencing health issues around the age of one. Tests revealed he had thalassemia, a hereditary blood disorder that often requires regular blood transfusions. Initially, Sandeep used his savings to fund his son’s treatment, but the recurring medical expenses soon became overwhelming.

During this difficult time, doctors informed the family about the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, leading to Sambodhi receiving free treatment. The family’s struggles intensified when, about four years later, their daughter Sanghpriya was also diagnosed with thalassemia.

With two children now requiring ongoing medical care, the family faced the challenge of arranging regular treatment for both. Fortunately, Sanghpriya’s treatment also fell under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.

According to the family, both children need blood transfusions approximately every 21 days, necessitating continuous medical attention. Sandeep noted that the health support from the scheme has significantly reduced their financial burden, ensuring both children receive the necessary treatment.

Expressing gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government, Sandeep stated that this scheme has provided immense help during their challenging times. He urged other eligible families facing financial hardships to learn about this scheme and benefit from it.
