Missile Attack on Military Camp in Yemen Leaves 25 Dead, Over 30 Injured
A missile strike in Yemens Shabwa province resulted in 25 fatalities and more than 30 injuries, with Houthi rebels blamed for the attack.

Aden, October 19 (Daily Kiran) : A missile attack on a military training base in Yemen’s southeastern province of Shabwa on Monday resulted in the deaths of at least 25 soldiers and injuries to over 30 others. Local military officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, reported that three missiles targeted the Al-Alam military base, specifically striking a training camp near the provincial capital, Ataq, in the Jardan district. The Houthi group has been blamed for the assault.
Footage circulating on social media shows numerous casualties at the scene. Local medical sources indicated that the reported figures are preliminary and may increase. Emergency teams are actively transporting the injured to hospitals in Shabwa, while some bodies recovered from the camp were severely burned, complicating efforts to determine the final casualty count.
Al-Alam is a large military base utilized by forces aligned with Yemen’s internationally recognized government, supported by a Saudi-led coalition. As of now, the Houthis have not claimed responsibility for this attack. The incident occurred amid intensified fighting and assaults between Houthi forces and government troops backed by the Saudi coalition across multiple fronts in Yemen.
A military official informed that fierce clashes erupted on Sunday near the strategically significant Bab al-Mandeb Strait, as government forces initiated a new offensive against Houthi positions in the region. The official noted that units from the Giants Brigade and Nation Shield Forces advanced from various directions, capturing key Houthi positions that oversee the strait’s entrances.
The official described the fighting as among the most intense in the area to date, with Houthi fighters firmly defending their positions against the advancing government troops. The conflict has been complicated by extensive landmines, hindering government forces’ progress.
Additionally, Houthi fighters have deployed fiber-optic-guided first-person-view suicide drones, known as “Shawaz,” against the advancing government army.
