New Delhi, June 19: The preparations for the next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2027) have already begun following the conclusion of IPL 2026. Major news has emerged regarding the Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), specifically involving players Rishabh Pant and Kuldeep Yadav.
According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, LSG is considering trading Rishabh Pant from DC before IPL 2027, potentially bringing Kuldeep Yadav in exchange.
Rishabh Pant was acquired by LSG for a staggering ₹27 crore in the mega auction before IPL 2025, making him the most expensive player in IPL history. Reports suggest that DC is looking to bring Pant back for around ₹15 crore. LSG, in turn, would receive Kuldeep Yadav from DC. Both franchises are currently finalizing the trade details and will await approval from the BCCI.
Pant stepped down from captaincy following the conclusion of IPL 2026, leading to speculation about his departure from the team. He joined LSG ahead of IPL 2025, where he was appointed captain. However, LSG’s performance under his leadership has been disappointing, finishing seventh in IPL 2025 and tenth in IPL 2026. As a batsman, Pant’s performance has also been underwhelming, scoring 269 runs in 14 matches during IPL 2025 and 312 runs in the same number of matches in IPL 2026.
His return to Delhi Capitals would feel like a homecoming, as he was part of the team from 2016 to 2024 and served as captain for a significant period.
On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav’s potential move to LSG would also feel like a return home for him. Although he has never played for LSG, the team represents his home state of Uttar Pradesh. Kuldeep has been with DC from 2022 to 2026.
