Udaipur, August 13 (Kiran News) – Member of Parliament Dr. Mannalal Rawat has written to Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, urging the reinstatement of Veer Kalibai’s story of sacrifice in the Class 5 syllabus.

In his letter, Dr. Rawat stated that he had learned the Rajasthan State Council of Educational Research and Training (RSCERT), Udaipur, removed the chapter on Veer Kalibai’s sacrifice from the Class 5 English language textbook in the newly revised school curriculum. Veer Kalibai Bhil, before India’s independence in 1947, sacrificed her life to save her teacher, becoming a victim of a government bullet. Her martyrdom has been a source of inspiration for tribal students and all children. Removing her story from school textbooks, he said, is extremely unfortunate.

Dr. Rawat emphasised that such inspiring stories of great personalities should always remain in the school syllabus so children can learn about the true history of India. He lamented that in certain periods, stories of India’s brave warriors were either omitted, shortened, or never included in the curriculum. As a result, many children remain unaware of important figures in history. He described this as an injustice to both the nation and future generations, depriving them of the knowledge of the country’s real history.
