Ahmedabad, June 1: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has clinched the title of IPL 2026. In the final match held at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, RCB defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) by 5 wickets. This victory adds several records to RCB’s name in the IPL history.
RCB has now become the third team in the league to win back-to-back IPL titles (2025, 2026). Before RCB, only Chennai Super Kings (CSK) (2010 and 2011) and Mumbai Indians (MI) (2019 and 2020) achieved this feat.
With this win, RCB ranks third in terms of the most IPL titles won. Mumbai Indians and CSK are tied for first place with five titles each. Kolkata Knight Riders follow in second place with three titles, while RCB holds third place with two titles.
Rajasthan Royals, Gujarat Titans, and Sunrisers Hyderabad have each won one title. Hyderabad won their title in 2009, but at that time, they were known as Deccan Chargers, and the current management did not own them.
RCB has also become the third team to win two IPL titles at the same venue. They previously won the IPL 2025 title at the Narendra Modi Stadium as well. Mumbai Indians have achieved this twice, winning titles in Kolkata in 2013 and 2015, and in Hyderabad in 2017 and 2019. Kolkata Knight Riders won their titles in Chennai in 2012 and 2024.
In the match, Gujarat Titans batted first after losing the toss, scoring 155 runs for 8 wickets. RCB chased down the target, thanks to an unbeaten 75-run innings from Virat Kohli, finishing with 161 runs for 5 wickets in 18 overs to secure the IPL 2026 trophy.
