Ravikant Chauhan Thanks Jay Shah and BCCI for Supporting Disabled Cricket

New Delhi, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : Ravikant Chauhan, a member of the BCCI’s disabled cricket committee, has expressed his gratitude to ICC Chairman Jay Shah and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for their support in promoting cricket for disabled players.

In a statement released on Sunday, the former physically challenged cricketer said, “We sincerely thank Jay Shah for his understanding and commitment to disabled cricket. His willingness to listen, understand players’ journeys, and elevate the sport at the BCCI level has instilled new hope and confidence among the players.”

During the BCCI’s 95th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Friday at the board’s headquarters in Mumbai, state cricket associations were encouraged to play an active role in the development of disabled cricketers. The meeting emphasized the need for providing essential facilities and resources for these players.

Earlier this year, the Disabled Cricket Council of India (DCCI) welcomed the BCCI’s decision to implement a structured support framework for the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI). The DCCI described this initiative as a significant step towards inclusive development in cricket. CABI is also a founding member of the DCCI.

Chauhan remarked, “With state cricket associations now being encouraged to be part of this initiative, we thank Jay Shah and the BCCI for paving a strong path forward for disabled cricketers across the country.”

Additionally, the AGM approved proposals to begin preparations for the BCCI’s centenary celebrations in 2028, set to commence in December 2027 and continue throughout the year with various events. Plans were also made for a grand celebration of the 20th edition of the IPL in 2027.

The meeting also approved an increase in the payment structure for umpires and match referees, alongside major changes to their grading system. New internal committees were established under the BCCI’s sexual harassment prevention policy, along with updates to the age verification policy.
