New Delhi, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian women’s 10-meter air rifle team has made history by winning a silver medal at the 2026 Asian Games. This achievement has been celebrated by various leaders, including President Droupadi Murmu, who extended her congratulations on social media.
In her post on X, President Murmu praised the team members—Elavenil Valarivan, Vidisha Baliyan, and Sonam Uttam Maskar—for their remarkable performance. She noted that this victory has opened India’s medal account at the games and elevated the country’s pride. “Wishing you continued success,” she added.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also took to X to congratulate the trio, stating, “India has opened its medal account at the Asian Games with a silver medal in the women’s 10-meter rifle (team) event. Best wishes for future competitions.”
Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya highlighted this as India’s first medal at the 2026 Asian Games, commending the team for their silver win and wishing them further success.
Kiren Rijiju, another central minister, echoed these sentiments, calling it a fantastic start for Team India in their medal campaign. He expressed hopes for more successes in the future.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath celebrated the team’s achievement, noting that the silver medals in both the team and individual events have brought honor to the nation. He wished the champions continued success as they move forward in the games.
