Ravi Kishan Highlights the Deep Connection Between Bhojpuri Cinema and Literature at International Film Festival

New Delhi, March 26: The International Film Festival, which commenced on March 25 at Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan, has brought a star-studded glow to Delhi. This is the first time such a large gathering of prominent stars has taken place in the city. The event saw the presence of Aamir Khan, Kangana Ranaut, casting director Mukesh Chhabra, BJP MP and Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishan, along with several South Indian stars.

At the festival, Ravi Kishan expressed, “This is a remarkable step. I had the opportunity to see this mandapam. Narendra Modi has created a grand structure that showcases our strength in this new India. This festival has greatly encouraged our Indian filmmakers to hold film festivals, engage in discussions, and connect with the media.” He also mentioned that a special screening of his Bhojpuri film “Mahadev Ka Gorakhpur” was held, along with discussions about the upcoming Netflix series “Mamla Legal Hai-2.”

Ravi Kishan plans to share insights about his career and personal life at the festival, while also promoting the series and discussing the development of regional cinema.

He thanked Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for her support, stating that such initiatives will strengthen Indian cinema and culture. He emphasized that similar events should continue not just in Delhi but across all states to promote cinema.

Discussing Bhojpuri cinema, he remarked, “The Bhojpuri film industry has a profound connection with literature. In 1962, our president Rajendra Prasad wanted films to be made in Bhojpuri. Consequently, Nazir Hussain made a film, and the idea was born on an airplane. The film was titled ‘Hey Ganga Maiya Tohhe Piyari Chadhai Bo.’ This marked the beginning, and the film industry progressed from there. However, it faced a setback in the 1990s.” He added that he has acted in over 400 Bhojpuri films and is currently busy with Hindi cinema, but he would certainly consider good offers from Bhojpuri films.
