Mumbai, March 22: MJ Daffue will enter the final day of the DP World PGTI Open at the Classic Golf and Country Club with a four-stroke lead, having scored five under par on Saturday. The South African player started the third round tied for the lead with Rashid Khan and maintained his impressive form, finishing the day with six birdies and one bogey, totaling 16 under par for the week. His round was cut short with six holes remaining due to fog delays and darkness.
He stated, “I had a slow start, but once I found my rhythm, I played more freely. I got back into my routine and made some good decisions. I also got lucky on the ninth hole. I’ve always been a player who bounces back from difficulties, so I’m very pleased to recover after a bogey.”
MJ Daffue has made a strong start to 2026, having secured his first win on the Hotel Planner Tour at the NTT Data Pro-Am last month. He is now seeking his second victory in just the fifth tournament of the season.
“My goal is to win every tournament. Winning for the second time this season would be very special. I aimed to play well from the start of the season. You can’t ignore the results from yesterday because we are all human, but if I can perform at my best, I feel ready to win the trophy. I really like this golf course, and there are still 24 holes left. I will try to win on every hole,” he added.
India’s Rashid Khan finished the day at 14 under par, tied with three other players, including Sweden’s Adam Wallin, Austria’s Lukas Nemecz, and Italy’s Aaron Zemmer. Saptak Talwar is one stroke behind in sixth place. Two other Indian players, Ravi Kumar and Yuvraj Sandhu, are tied for ninth at 11 under par.
For those players whose third round is still incomplete, play will resume at 9 AM on Sunday, while the final round will start at 9:30 AM.
