Mumbai, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : BJP legislator Ram Kadam has responded sharply to comments made by Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut regarding the Disha Salian death case. Kadam alleged that during Uddhav Thackeray’s tenure as Chief Minister, the investigation into Salian’s death was intentionally suppressed.
Following the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filing a First Information Report (FIR) in the case, Raut labeled it a political conspiracy aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the Balasaheb Thackeray family. In response, Kadam criticized Raut’s defense, suggesting he should provide credible arguments. He pointed out that while Raut was seemingly unaware, Salian’s father repeatedly asserted that his daughter did not commit suicide but was murdered after being harassed.
Kadam emphasized that during that period, Raut and the police were unresponsive to calls for an investigation. He referenced a sting operation where a staff member present during the autopsy reported scratches on Salian’s body, which he claims were deliberately concealed. Kadam noted that the identities of attendees at the party where Salian was last seen remain unknown. He accused Raut of ignoring Salian’s father’s persistent demands for a CBI investigation, and suggested that Raut is now feeling the heat as the court has ordered such an inquiry.
In a related context, Kadam commented on the Mumbai police’s denial of permission for a proposed march by Maratha activist Manoj Jarange Patil, which was planned to address the demand for Maratha reservation. He stated that everyone has the right to protest but emphasized the importance of timing. With millions visiting Mumbai for the festivals of Lalbaugcha Raja and Siddhivinayak, he expressed concern that protests could disrupt traffic and offend local sentiments.
