Jaipur, May 22: In a significant operation led by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Rajasthan, two faculty members from a local university were arrested for accepting a bribe of ₹20,000. The arrests occurred on Friday, following a sting operation initiated by the ACB’s Tonk unit.
The accused include Dr. Meenu Gangwal, an Associate Professor and Head of Department at Dr. K.N. Modi University, and Ramesh Chand Meena, an Assistant Professor at the same institution. Both were caught red-handed while accepting the bribe.
According to ACB Director General Govind Gupta, the bureau received a complaint from a student enrolled in the two-year B.Ed. program (session 2024–26) at Dr. K.N. Modi University. The student alleged that the accused were harassing him.
It was reported that the two faculty members demanded ₹23,000 in exchange for regularizing the student’s attendance, allowing him to sit for the main examinations, and issuing his admit card.
During a verification operation on May 21, the accused reiterated their demand for ₹23,000 and assured the student that upon payment, he would be permitted to take the exam and receive his admit card.
Under the supervision of Ajmer Range Deputy Inspector General Narayan Togas and Additional Superintendent of Police Rishikesh Meena, the ACB conducted the operation.
During the operation, Dr. Meenu Gangwal allegedly instructed his co-accused, Ramesh Chand Meena, to collect ₹20,000 in bribe from the student in his office. Ramesh Chand Meena reportedly accepted the money, counted it, and placed it in his pants pocket, which was later recovered by the ACB team.
Both accused were arrested on the spot while accepting the bribe. Further inquiries and actions are being conducted under the oversight of ACB Additional Director General Smita Srivastava.
A case has been registered under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and the investigation is ongoing.
