Rajasthan Royals Make History with Record IPL Victory Against CSK

Guwahati, March 31: Rajasthan Royals, under the captaincy of Riyan Parag, kicked off IPL 2026 with a spectacular victory. In a match held at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Rajasthan defeated Chennai Super Kings by 8 wickets, marking their largest win in IPL history in terms of balls remaining.

Chasing a target of 128 runs set by Chennai, Rajasthan achieved the goal in just 12.1 overs, losing only 2 wickets. They secured their first win of IPL 2026 with 47 balls to spare. Previously, in 2014, Rajasthan had chased down a target against Royal Challengers Bangalore with 42 balls remaining.

Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi showcased remarkable batting skills, scoring 52 runs off just 17 balls. He reached his half-century in a mere 15 balls, boasting a strike rate of 305. Vaibhav hit 4 fours and 5 sixes during his innings. Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal remained unbeaten with 38 runs off 36 balls.

Chennai Super Kings’ batting performance was disappointing, collapsing for just 127 runs. Jamie Overton was the top scorer for Chennai with 43 runs, while Kartik Sharma managed 18 runs off 15 balls. Rajasthan’s bowling attack was led by Jofra Archer, who took 2 wickets for just 19 runs in his 4-over spell.

Nandre Burger also claimed 2 wickets, conceding 26 runs. Ravindra Jadeja’s spinning deliveries troubled Chennai’s batsmen, as he dismissed Shivam Dube and Sarfaraz Khan for just 18 runs in 3 overs. This victory marked Rajasthan Royals’ 16th win against CSK in IPL history. They are now tied with Punjab Kings for the second-most wins against Chennai in the league, while Mumbai Indians hold the record with 21 victories over CSK.
