Mumbai, March 31: Following the arrest of 47-year-old Srinivas Louis, who allegedly sent over 1,100 fake bomb threats across the country, the Mumbai Crime Branch has entered alert mode. The Mumbai police are set to take Louis into custody for questioning soon.
Srinivas Louis was apprehended by the Delhi police in Mysuru, Karnataka, for attempting to instill fear nationwide. Authorities suspect that he may also be linked to over 100 threatening emails received in Mumbai and surrounding areas over the past three years. The Crime Branch is preparing to secure his custody for further interrogation.
Mumbai police officials have confirmed that they are in contact with the Delhi police. They are currently matching the suspect’s previous email patterns, language, and technical indicators. A senior officer stated that if a solid connection is established, Louis will be brought to Mumbai for questioning.
Since 2023, a serial email threat sender has been active in Mumbai, claiming to have planted RDX-based IEDs. These emails have led to the evacuation of several government offices and financial institutions, although all threats were later deemed false. On March 18, an email sent to the Regional Passport Office in Bandra-Kurla Complex claimed that 19 cyanide gas bombs had been planted, warning of an explosion at 1:30 PM. Similarly, in May 2025, the Palghar Collector’s Office received a threat of an RDX attack. The emails attempted to mislead agencies by using names of South Indian leaders, actors, and YouTubers in convoluted narratives.
Investigations have revealed that the suspect used various digital identities and spoofed email IDs to conceal his identity. The cyber team is analyzing email headers, IP logs, and routing patterns to determine whether there is a direct link between the threatening emails sent in Mumbai and the arrested suspect in Delhi.
Authorities believe that the suspect deliberately targeted high-profile institutions to maximize fear. Initial investigations suggest he may be experiencing mental distress. However, police have clarified that the investigation is still ongoing.
