New Delhi, March 31: The New Zealand cricket team has announced its squad for the upcoming white-ball series against Bangladesh, which includes both One Day Internationals (ODIs) and T20 matches. The team sees the return of three fast bowlers: Matt Fisher, Will O’Rourke, and Blair Tickner, significantly strengthening the bowling lineup.
All three players had been sidelined due to injuries. Will O’Rourke returns to the ODI team after recovering from a back injury. Meanwhile, Matt Fisher makes his comeback to the T20 squad following recovery from a calf injury. Blair Tickner has fully recovered from an ankle issue and has secured his place in both formats.
Head coach Rob Walter expressed his delight at the return of these fast bowlers. He noted that their hard work to return to fitness will greatly benefit the team. Walter emphasized the importance of having depth in the bowling attack, especially with the current busy cricket schedule.
All-rounder Dean Foxcroft also makes a comeback, returning to the white-ball team for the first time since April 2024. He played a crucial role in leading the Central Stags to the finals during the 2025-26 domestic season and was the fourth-highest run-scorer in the tournament. Mitchell Santner is absent from the squad due to his participation in IPL 2026, with Tom Latham stepping in to lead both the ODI and T20 teams.
Several young players who performed impressively for New Zealand A against Sri Lanka have also been included in the squad. These players are Muhammad Abbas, Aditya Ashok, Christian Clark, and Ben Sears. Clark and Jaden Lennox notably impressed during New Zealand’s historic ODI series win in India earlier this year. The New Zealand team will depart for Bangladesh on April 13, starting the tour with the ODI series set to begin on April 17.
