Udaipur, 15 November (Daily Kiran). A shocking case of alleged attempted murder, kidnapping, and suppression of a police report in Bhinder police station limits has raised serious questions over local law-and-order.

Rajasthan High Court

According to a complaint filed by Prakash Ahir, a resident of Padmura village who runs a readymade garment shop, armed attackers allegedly broke into his sister’s house in Hita village on the night of 24 June 2025 and brutally assaulted him and his mother. The family had been staying there for safety after a dispute arising from the marriage of Prakash’s younger brother, Radhakishan Ahir, with a woman from the same village.

The FIR states that around 10–12 people, armed with axes, swords, rods, and sticks, broke open the door around 12:40 am and attacked Prakash and his mother Mangibai. The assailants allegedly dragged both victims outside, forced them into a vehicle, and took them to a location near Uttara Wada, where they were tied up and held hostage. Prakash’s mother also suffered a serious leg injury from an iron rod.

A family member reportedly alerted emergency number 112, after which Bhinder police reached the spot and found broken doors, bloodstains, and weapons scattered at the scene. However, when the family went to Bhinder police station the next day, the complaint was allegedly suppressed by constable Hinglajdan Charan, and no case was registered.

The FIR further alleges that the accused brought Prakash and his mother back to Bhinder the next day and, in the presence of the same police constable, forced signatures on a document prepared on a ₹500 stamp paper, allegedly to protect the accused. The victims were threatened with death if they attempted to report the incident.

Due to severe injuries, the family shifted Mangibai to a hospital in Udaipur and has been living in fear since the incident. Through advocate Manju Solanki, the family approached the High Court, detailing the events.

The High Court has now directed the Udaipur Range IG to provide police protection to the family and take action against the accused. Following this, Prakash Ahir submitted a formal complaint to the Udaipur SP, who ordered immediate registration of an FIR. Range IG Gaurav Srivastava also instructed Chittorgarh SP and Mangalwad police to ensure security for the victims.

Advocate Manju Solanki said the High Court’s order has restored the victim family’s confidence and reinforced the responsibility of the police to act lawfully.
