Rajasthan Election Commissioner Warns Against Negligence in Election Duties

Jaipur, August 24: Rajasthan’s State Election Commissioner, Rajeshwar Singh, has issued a stern warning to officials regarding negligence in election duties for the upcoming Urban Local Body Elections 2026.

Singh expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of seriousness shown by some districts and instructed officials to strictly adhere to the Election Commission’s directives, ensuring that all assigned tasks are completed within the stipulated deadlines.

This warning was delivered during a training program for returning officers conducted via video conferencing. The session, chaired by Singh, took place in the conference hall of the State Election Commission at the government secretariat, with officials from all districts in attendance.

Singh engaged with officials statewide to review preparations and the progress of election-related work. He assessed district-wise readiness, discussed challenges faced by officials, and issued necessary directives.

The Commissioner reviewed the status of voter list amendments and updates, arrangements for persons with disabilities at polling stations, and preparations for sensitive and hyper-sensitive polling centers. He emphasized the need to ensure that all eligible voters are included in the voter list and that adequate facilities are provided for persons with disabilities and those requiring assistance.

Singh reiterated his frustration over the lack of seriousness in some districts, clearly stating that negligence in election duties will not be tolerated.

Returning officers were briefed on various phases of the election process, including nomination, voting, and vote counting, along with their specific responsibilities. Officials had their questions addressed and received essential instructions.

The Commissioner stressed the importance of better coordination and full seriousness among all officials to conduct the elections fairly, transparently, peacefully, and smoothly. He directed regular monitoring of election-related tasks and timely resolution of any issues that arise.
