Patna, August 24: Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, visited Gardanibagh once again on Monday to show solidarity with the protesting students. He emphasized that the Grand Alliance and the entire opposition stand firmly with the students. “Whether in the assembly or on the streets, we will raise the students’ demands,” he stated.
Yadav sharply criticized the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) and the government regarding their recent statements about the examination process. He remarked that addressing students in such a manner is inappropriate.
Expressing his discontent with the examination controller’s comments, he insisted that officials should communicate with students respectfully and demanded an apology from the concerned authority.
“Those who are calling students derogatory names should apologize,” Yadav asserted.
He affirmed that the students’ movement is justified and urged the government to take their demands seriously. He accused the government of misleading the youth instead of providing them with employment opportunities. Reflecting on his tenure, Yadav noted that his administration had successfully created numerous jobs for young people through the first phase of teacher recruitment at Gandhi Maidan.
Yadav stated that the government must provide clear answers on issues affecting students’ futures. He mentioned that candidates have submitted memorandums regarding their demands, and he stands firmly with them.
He highlighted that the opposition will vigorously raise several demands, including the abolition of age limits for appointments based on compassionate grounds. He also called for monthly stipends to ensure economic justice for the people.
Yadav pointed out that prior to the elections, the Grand Alliance included demands related to new regulations in their manifesto, but there is a significant gap between the current government’s promises and actions. He urged the government to engage in dialogue with the protesting individuals and fulfill their demands.
He appealed to students and protesters to remain united, assuring them that he and the entire Grand Alliance will support their fight for their rights to the best of their ability.
