New Delhi, August 24: Nitin Naveen, the National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), met with Ono Keiichi, the Japanese Ambassador to India, on Monday in New Delhi. The meeting focused on the strong and growing ties between India and Japan.
During the discussion, Naveen provided insights into the BJP’s organizational journey, grassroots structure, and operational framework. He elaborated on the extensive network of party members and workers, its various fronts and departments, the recently formed national team, and ongoing organizational activities beyond the elections.
Naveen also recalled the deep personal friendship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the late former Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, highlighting their contributions to enhancing bilateral relations strategically. He reminisced about his discussions with a delegation from the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), led by Takayuki Kobayashi, earlier this May.
He acknowledged Japan’s significant role in India’s development journey, which includes the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail project. Naveen spoke about the transformations in India under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership in infrastructure, digitization, manufacturing, social development, and internal security.
Ambassador Ono Keiichi detailed various Japanese initiatives aimed at further strengthening bilateral relations across multiple sectors. Both parties discussed the importance of the upcoming 75th anniversary of India-Japan diplomatic relations in 2027 and explored opportunities for deepening cooperation in various fields.
Dr. Vijay Chauthaiwale, in charge of the BJP’s foreign affairs department, was also present during the meeting. A press note released by the BJP stated that both leaders agreed to enhance dialogue between India and Japan at both party and government levels.
