New Delhi, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : The Chief Executive Officer of the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA), Bhavna Saxena, stressed the importance of awareness and vigilance to protect children from illegal adoption practices. Speaking at a workshop held at the Delhi Secretariat, she asserted, “Every child has the right to a safe childhood, a secure future, and legal protection.”
Addressing around 200 participants involved in child protection and adoption, Saxena highlighted that shortcuts in the adoption process are unacceptable. The workshop, themed “Legal Adoption, Safe Childhood, Secure Future: Say No to Illegal Adoption,” aimed to ensure that all stakeholders in the adoption process understand their responsibilities and that prospective adoptive parents adhere to legal procedures.
Saxena remarked, “We must work together to ensure that the best interests, rights, and dignity of every child remain at the heart of the adoption process.” The event featured discussions on various issues related to promoting a legal, transparent, and child-centered adoption process.
This workshop was organized by CARA, in collaboration with the Delhi government‘s Department of Women and Child Development and the Delhi State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA). Rashmi Singh, Secretary of the Delhi Department of Women and Child Development, noted that participation from various sectors, including health, police, and child welfare committees, is a significant step toward widespread public awareness.
She emphasized that such collective efforts reflect institutional commitment to ensuring a safe and protected childhood. During the workshop, a fictional film based on legal adoption was launched, aimed at illustrating the importance of following authorized adoption processes and raising awareness about the risks associated with illegal adoptions.
