Ranchi, August 7: The political landscape has intensified following Rahul Gandhi’s support for the JPSC-JSSC candidates’ movement. Both the BJP and JD(U) have accused Congress of engaging in opportunistic politics.
Bihar government minister Ramkripal Yadav stated, “Students in Jharkhand are on hunger strikes and protests without any political backing. They are facing significant hardships. The government has yet to address their concerns. The state government must acknowledge their pain and take appropriate action.”
BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdev remarked, “Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party have been exposed. They indulge in opportunistic politics. Their attitude towards students and movements depends on which state is involved.”
He added, “Jharkhand students have been asking for 12-13 days when Rahul Gandhi would come, but he has shown no impact. After 13 days, he finally released a video message.”
Shahdev questioned, “The students do not need Rahul Gandhi’s virtual sympathy. They want him to come and support them on the ground, especially since his party is in power here. Are these not your children? Congress has been completely exposed.”
In Patna, Bihar BJP state president Sanjay Sarawagi criticized, “Suddenly, they remember Jharkhand. They have four ministers there, but has any of them met the students? If they were serious about this issue, they would pressure Chief Minister Hemant Soren to order a CBI investigation.”
He continued, “PM Modi speaks about student welfare, but Rahul Gandhi only seeks political gains.”
JD(U) national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad raised the question, “Why have they woken up on the 14th day? The protesters have been peacefully voicing their demands. The images from the ground show they are consistently stating that merit and qualifications do not guarantee jobs here; a hefty price must be paid.”
He noted, “If this issue were to be resolved by CM Hemant Soren, he had ample time, but instead, he formed a subcommittee to complicate matters. The students were not willing to accept this. They wanted to speak directly with Hemant Soren. Now, both Rahul Gandhi and Hemant Soren are waking up to the reality of the youth’s impending anger towards them.”
The JPSC-JSSC candidates have long demanded transparency in the appointment process and a CBI investigation into irregularities.
