Katihar, September 1: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi remains undeterred following the filing of an FIR against him in Uttarakhand. Party leader Tariq Anwar criticized the state government, asserting that their leader is not intimidated and continues to represent all sections of society. “Neither Rahul Gandhi nor the Congress party will be shaken by such FIRs. We will persist in our struggle and raise our voices against the people’s hardships,” Anwar stated during a conversation in Katihar.
He also commented on India’s GDP growth of 7.08 percent, referencing a senior BJP leader. “If statistics could eliminate poverty and fill people’s stomachs, what could be better? Everyone is aware of the current state of the country. From villages to cities, the situation is well understood,” he added.
Anwar further criticized the government’s move to shut down madrasas, labeling it a one-point agenda. He claimed that the minority community is being targeted and questioned the lack of educational infrastructure. “Over a hundred thousand schools have closed in the country. New schools are not being established, and existing ones are shutting down due to a lack of teacher recruitment. Some individuals are running madrasas for the welfare of children, yet there are attempts to stop them. This is an effort to keep the youth uneducated,” he remarked.
In response to the FIR against Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader Zeenat Shabreen from Mumbai stated that after a rally led by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge in Haldwani, an FIR was filed against Rahul Gandhi for raising concerns about the purification ceremony that took place. “We protested against this FIR. Some of our members were taken from their homes and held in custody overnight. We were unable to return home due to ongoing investigations. We questioned the legal grounds for the FIR, but received no information. The treatment of the youth during custody was unacceptable, and the BJP will have to answer for this,” she concluded.
