New Delhi, May 11: Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has once again targeted the central government through a recent post. He criticized Prime Minister Modi’s statements, claiming that the Prime Minister consistently shifts responsibility onto the public.
In his post on X, Rahul Gandhi highlighted that on May 10, PM Modi asked citizens to make sacrifices. He suggested avoiding gold purchases, limiting foreign travel, reducing petrol consumption, and cutting down on fertilizers and cooking oil. He also recommended using the metro and working from home. Gandhi remarked that these suggestions are not mere advice but evidence of failure. He stated that after 12 years in power, the government has put the public in a position where they must decide what to buy and where to go. “The Prime Minister shifts responsibility onto the people to evade accountability. Running the country is no longer within PM Modi’s capabilities,” he asserted.
It is noteworthy that during a large public gathering in Hyderabad, PM Modi addressed the current economic turmoil, supply chain disruptions, and international conflicts, which he claimed are contributing to rising inflation. He emphasized the need for collective participation to maintain India’s strength during these challenging times.
The Prime Minister broadened the definition of patriotism, stating that it is not limited to sacrifices for the country but also includes living a disciplined and responsible life during tough times. He urged citizens to adjust their daily habits to strengthen the economy. PM Modi encouraged people to refrain from unnecessary gold purchases for a year to prevent unnecessary outflow of foreign currency. He also stressed the importance of conserving petrol and diesel, asserting that fuel savings would bolster the country’s economic position.
To reduce fuel consumption, PM Modi offered several suggestions. He advised using metro and public transport whenever possible, adopting carpooling for private vehicle use, prioritizing rail transport for goods, and promoting the use of electric vehicles.
He also recommended reinstating efficient measures adopted during the COVID-19 pandemic, such as work-from-home arrangements, online conferences, and virtual meetings, which save both time and resources while reducing fuel consumption.
The Prime Minister appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary foreign travel, vacations abroad, and events held overseas. Instead, he encouraged prioritizing domestic tourism and celebrations to boost the local economy. PM Modi urged the public to choose local and ‘Made in India’ products for everyday items like shoes, bags, and other goods.
