Ashwini Choubey Demands High-Level Investigation into Alleged Fake Encounter in Ara

Ahmedabad, June 21: Former Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey met with the family of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari, who was allegedly killed in a fake encounter. He assured them of justice and called for a fair and high-level investigation into the incident. Choubey described the event as extremely tragic, unfortunate, and condemnable. He emphasized that if any police officer is found guilty, they should face strict legal action.

In a conversation with the media, Choubey condemned the murder of a promising young man, stating that no amount of criticism would be sufficient. He urged that a murder case should be filed against the involved police officer and that their immediate arrest is necessary. He called for a thorough investigation to uncover the truth, suggesting that examining the deceased’s mobile phone could reveal significant facts. According to him, Bharat Bhushan Tiwari was a voice for the rights of the poor, Scheduled Castes, the oppressed, victims, the marginalized, and flood-affected individuals. He noted that attempts were made to silence Tiwari’s voice, which is a serious issue.

Choubey asserted that there were no criminal charges against the deceased. He stated that if someone dies in a genuine encounter, it would be a different matter; however, based on the available facts, this case appears to be a fake encounter. He demanded a high-level investigation into the entire matter and urged for the investigation report to be made public as soon as possible. He insisted that the guilty should receive the harshest punishment and that the police must remain sensitive to the public.

He also called for appropriate compensation for the victim’s family. Choubey mentioned that if any false charges have been filed against the family, they should be withdrawn. He expressed confidence that the government would take legal action in this case and strive to deliver justice to the victim’s family. He remarked that it seems a son has been murdered, and justice must be served at all costs. Stressing the timeline for the investigation, Choubey insisted that the high-level inquiry should be completed within a stipulated time frame, ideally not exceeding three months. He emphasized that there should be no unnecessary delays in justice.

In response to statements made by Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, Choubey stated that the police’s actions cannot be justified in any way. He remarked that such actions cannot be termed as bravery or an achievement, calling it a deeply unfortunate incident. If such statements have been made, they are incorrect.
