Rahul Gandhi Criticizes CBSE Over Result Irregularities

New Delhi, June 1: The political uproar surrounding alleged irregularities in the CBSE Class 12 results continues unabated. Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has been vocally critical of the situation. On Monday, he stated that when education is treated as a business rather than a service, mistakes are not corrected but compounded, with students bearing the brunt of these errors.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Rahul Gandhi warned, “Beware of pickpockets. Today, they are inside the CBSE. If the CBSE makes a mistake and your marks are incorrect, what do you receive? A bill, charging ₹100 per subject for a digital scan copy, ₹100 per paper for re-evaluation, and ₹25 per question for re-assessment.”

He alleged that a student may have to pay up to ₹2000 just to have their own answer sheet properly evaluated. In his post, he highlighted, “Imagine, when 400,000 students have submitted such applications, how much revenue is the CBSE generating? When scanning is done via phone, incorrect marking is inevitable, and the cost of rectifying it falls on the students. The mistake is with the CBSE, the punishment is for the students, and the profit goes to the government.”

Rahul Gandhi further emphasized, “When education is transformed from a service into a business, mistakes are not rectified but exacerbated. Our children are paying the highest price for this, in terms of their time, self-confidence, and future.”

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi shared a video of his interaction with some CBSE students, discussing the ongoing controversy regarding the results. The students expressed their concerns and recounted their experiences of being trolled on social media after raising the issue, with some being labeled as traitors and enemies of the nation.
