PM Modi Emphasizes the Qualities of Great Teachers on Social Media

New Delhi, June 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to the social media platform ‘X’ on Monday to share insights on the concept of compound verbs in Sanskrit.

In his post, PM Modi explained, “A compound verb means transferring or adding the characteristics of one word to another associated word. A person possessing both these qualities should fulfill the duties of a teacher with utmost dedication and responsibility.”

He also shared a Sanskrit verse: “श्लिष्टा क्रिया कस्यचिदात्मसंस्था सङ्क्रान्तिरन्यस्य विशेषयुक्ता . यस्योभयं साधु स शिक्षकाणां धुरि प्रतिष्ठापयितव्य एव..”

The meaning of this verse in Hindi is that some individuals excel in performing tasks, while others are particularly skilled at imparting that knowledge or skill to others. Those who embody both proficiency and the ability to teach should be recognized as the foremost among great teachers.

Earlier, on May 29, the Prime Minister had shared another insightful quote emphasizing humility, forgiveness, and good conduct. He stated that these traits are the true jewels of personality. With these qualities, citizens are continuously working towards realizing the vision of a developed India.

He also shared a Sanskrit verse: “तेजः क्षमा धृतिः शौचमद्रोहो नातिमानिता. भवन्ति सम्पदं दैवीमभिजातस्य भारत..”

The Hindi translation of this verse highlights that qualities like brilliance, forgiveness, unwavering patience, purity of conduct, sincerity towards the nation, and a humble personality are characteristics of a divinely endowed individual.

It is noteworthy that on May 28, the Prime Minister also paid tribute to the great revolutionary and nationalist thinker Veer Savarkar on his birth anniversary, stating that his courageous and intellectual personality will continue to inspire every generation of the country.

He shared another verse: “अनन्तोद्भूतभूतौघसङ्कुले भूतलेऽखिले. शस्त्रे शास्त्रे त्रिचतुराश्चतुरा यदि मादृशाः..” which translates to mean that many people are known only for their knowledge or strength, but truly profound personalities who possess both wisdom and valor are exceedingly rare.
