Nagpur, August 23: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis made significant remarks during an event held in Nagpur on Saturday. He highlighted the impressive participation of Gen Z and youth from Maharashtra at the gathering.
CM Fadnavis stated, “You all must have noticed that Gen Z and Maharashtra’s youth (25,000 people) were present here today. No arrangements were made for transportation, and no one was paid. Everyone came on their own. A total of 125,000 people participated in this event. Notably, a team of 585 flag bearers showcased Maharashtra’s traditional dhol, setting a new world record. This event demonstrated the substantial involvement of our Gen Z in education, skills, startups, sports, and arts.”
The Chief Minister also targeted opposition leader Rahul Gandhi. He remarked, “As far as Rahul Gandhi is concerned, he speaks about women’s empowerment on stage, but he opposes the most revolutionary step for women’s rights—the Women’s Reservation Bill. He votes against it. I believe he does not want to empower women; his actions show that his public persona is different from his true intentions.”
It is worth noting that Rahul Gandhi addressed the ‘Voice of Students’ event in Pune on the same day. He emphasized that women are the nation’s greatest strength and criticized patriarchal thinking. He stated that keeping women dependent on others is part of a ‘Manusmriti mentality’ and urged women to step forward for their rights.
The ‘Voice of Students’ initiative was launched by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on June 17, 2026, in Kota, Rajasthan. Its primary aim is to raise issues related to paper leaks, exam cancellations, delays in recruitment processes, and unemployment affecting youth and students.
Following Kota, subsequent events were held in Dehradun on July 17, Prayagraj on August 8, and Pune on August 22.
