New Delhi, April 15: The central government has granted Z-category security to Raghav Chadha, a member of the Rajya Sabha from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). This significant security upgrade comes after the Punjab government withdrew his state-level protection. Sources from the Ministry of Home Affairs indicate that this security will be enforced in both Delhi and Punjab, with paramilitary forces responsible for his safety.
This decision was made based on a threat perception report from the Intelligence Bureau (IB). The Ministry of Home Affairs assessed all security-related aspects before taking this step.
Previously, when Chadha was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Punjab, he was provided with high-level Z-plus security by the state government. However, recent tensions between Chadha and AAP leadership have come to light. The situation escalated when he was removed from the position of Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha on April 2. Following this decision, Chadha expressed strong discontent, stating he felt silenced but not defeated.
Recently, he shared a video on Instagram titled “Voiced Out, Paid the Price,” showcasing various issues he raised during parliamentary sessions. In his post, he asserted that those questioning his parliamentary performance would be answered by his work.
The Aam Aadmi Party claimed that Chadha was removed from his Deputy Leader position due to his failure to vocally oppose Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government, focusing instead on self-promotion.
However, Chadha has vehemently denied these allegations, labeling them as false. He emphasized that he attends Parliament to raise public issues, not to create disturbances. Since his removal, he has remained active on social media, sharing numerous videos and posts to convey his perspective.
Currently, the decision to enhance his security is viewed as a significant relief for him, but discussions continue regarding the growing rift between him and the party.
