Rabri Devi Receives Final Notice to Vacate Government Residence

Patna, June 24: Former Chief Minister of Bihar and Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Council, Rabri Devi, has been issued a final notice by the Building Construction Department to vacate her government residence at 10, Circular Road. The department has instructed her to clear the premises within seven days of receiving the notice.

Failure to comply with this deadline will result in further action as per regulations. The notice, issued on June 22, states that Rabri Devi was allocated residence number 39 at Harding Road, Patna, on November 25, 2025, for the Leader of the Opposition. However, she continues to reside at the previously allocated residence at 10, Circular Road.

The notice also highlights that the residence at 10, Circular Road has been allocated to Minister Nandkishore Ram of the Dairy, Fisheries, and Animal Resources Department as per an office order dated May 27, 2026. Due to Rabri Devi’s failure to vacate, the minister has been unable to take possession of the property.

Previously, on December 15, 2025, the department requested Rabri Devi to vacate the residence. Follow-up communications were sent to her private secretary on April 17, 2026, and May 29, 2026. A notice was also issued on June 3, 2026, giving her seven days to vacate. Despite these reminders, the residence remains occupied.

The Building Construction Department has now invoked its powers under Section 4(k) of the Bihar Government Premises (Allotment, Rent, Recovery, and Eviction) (Amendment) Act, 2024, providing Rabri Devi with a final opportunity to vacate the premises.

The department has made it clear that if the residence is not vacated within seven days of the notice, appropriate action will be taken as per the law.
