New Delhi, April 25: Iraq has launched attacks on two northern border posts in Kuwait. Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties or damage to property in Kuwait due to these assaults. Meanwhile, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly criticized the drone attacks carried out by Iraq against Kuwait.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Qatar’s Ministry stated, “Qatar condemns the drone attacks targeting Kuwait’s two northern border posts by Iraq.” Qatar labeled the attacks as a blatant violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty and a serious threat to regional security and stability.
The Ministry emphasized that Iraq must take responsibility to prevent such attacks from happening again. Qatar reiterated its full solidarity with Kuwait and its support for all measures taken to protect Kuwait’s sovereignty and security.
Following the attacks, Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense reported, “On Friday morning, two explosive drones controlled by fiber optic wires attacked two centers on Kuwait’s northern land border. These drones originated from Iraq. The attack resulted only in material damage, with no loss of life.”
The Ministry also stated that relevant authorities acted promptly to manage the situation.
Kuwait’s Director General of Civil Aviation, Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Hamoud Al-Sabah, announced on Thursday that the airspace over Kuwait International Airport has been reopened. This airspace had been closed since February 28 as a precaution due to the ongoing regional tensions.
According to a report from ‘Kuwait Times’, the Public Authority of Civil Aviation later indicated that terminals four and five at the airport would resume operations for specific destinations starting Sunday. Sheikh Hamoud noted that this decision was made in collaboration with local and international agencies to ensure that flights could safely and cautiously resume. This process is part of a gradual plan to fully operationalize the airport.
Previously, several countries in the Middle East faced attacks due to heightened tensions between the United States and Iran. Kuwait and Qatar were among the targets of Iran’s aggression in the region.
In March, Iran launched multiple missiles at Qatar’s LNG plant, which is the largest LNG facility in the world.
