Punjab Governor Advocates for Local Language Booklets to Combat TB Awareness

Patiala, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : The 81st NATCON Conference 2026 held in Patiala focused on strengthening the prevention, early detection, and treatment of tuberculosis (TB). During the event, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria urged scholars to create small booklets in local languages to improve awareness about TB, making information accessible to rural communities.

Governor Kataria highlighted the significance of the organization established in 1939 for TB patients in the country. He noted the presence of numerous professors and experts at the conference, emphasizing their dedication to keeping the organization alive through their hard work.

He stated that there is now a growing confidence in identifying TB early, which allows individuals to access various government services. Since 2015, India has seen a 21% reduction in the number of TB patients and a 28% decline in TB-related deaths.

Kataria reassured attendees that TB is treatable and that the government will utilize the suggestions provided by experts. He reiterated his recommendation for creating small booklets in local languages, enabling villagers to read and understand essential information about TB, including preventive measures.

He concluded by affirming the constitutional rights of all citizens to voice their concerns, emphasizing the importance of community engagement in addressing health issues.
