UAE Official Commends Indian Pilot for Bravery Amid Terror Attack
UAEs Anwar Gargash praises Indian pilot Smita Machhar for courage during a recent terrorist incident on a Flydubai flight.

Abu Dhabi, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : Anwar Gargash, an advisor to UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed, praised the bravery and professionalism of Indian pilot Smita Machhar during a recent terrorist incident involving a Flydubai flight. The attack, which occurred on Wednesday, prompted Gargash to take to social media platform X, where he expressed his admiration.
Gargash wrote, “Pilot Smita Machhar deserves all recognition. He exemplified courage and responsibility in the face of a dangerous terrorist act. His professionalism and moral compass in such challenging circumstances make him a true hero.”
In response to the incident, the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the establishment of a special team of public prosecutors to investigate the circumstances and causes surrounding the attack. The ministry emphasized that UAE judicial authorities have jurisdiction over the investigation, as the aircraft is registered in the UAE and operates under its flag.
The ministry stated, “UAE law applies to crimes committed on the aircraft, even if they occur outside the country’s territory.” It also indicated that the investigation would examine all aspects of the event, including its motives and any potential links to terrorist activities or premeditated plans.
Furthermore, the UAE expressed gratitude to Saudi authorities for their cooperation and effective handling of the situation.
David Menzor, spokesperson for the Israeli Prime Minister, drew parallels between the attempted attack on the Flydubai flight and the September 11 attacks in the United States. In an exclusive interview, Menzor noted, “It certainly resembles 9/11. There may have been a detail missed. When an Israeli passenger and a crew member managed to enter the cockpit, they found the Omani pilot was not seated at the controls. Instead, he was standing over the controls, attempting to sabotage the aircraft and destroy its control systems. This man intended to crash the plane. You cannot help but compare this incident to 9/11.”
