Gurdaspur, June 13: Voting is underway for the municipal council elections in Punjab. On Saturday morning, Pratap Singh Bajwa, the Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, cast his vote at the Sikh National College polling booth in Qadian. He expressed gratitude to the Election Commission for conducting the elections via EVMs and for ordering the counting process.
Accompanied by his family, Bajwa arrived to vote on Saturday morning. Speaking to the media, he stated, “I voted with my wife and son. We have exercised our right to vote.”
Bajwa urged the people of Qadian to vote for development and to steer clear of goons and drug mafia. He emphasized the importance of a stable government in 2027, which would be tasked with significant responsibilities.
The Congress leader remarked, “Everyone should cast their vote. The weather is pleasant. If voting goes well, the results will also be favorable.” He expressed confidence that the election results would favor the Indian National Congress.
He also commented on the confusion often caused by ballot paper voting in local elections, which can complicate the counting process. “We are thankful to the Election Commission for conducting the elections through EVMs and for ordering the counting,” he added.
Additionally, Bajwa responded to the roadshow organized by the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab. He stated that the AAP and BJP are two sides of the same coin. “What Modi wants, the Election Commission does. It seems the BJP has informed Kejriwal that elections will be held in November.” He also criticized the Chief Minister, saying, “If Kejriwal couldn’t rid his own state of drugs, what could he possibly achieve?”
