Chandigarh, July 19: Sardar Keval Singh Dhillon, the Punjab President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stated on Sunday that the NITI Aayog’s Investment Friendliness Index-2026 has exposed the hollow claims of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, led by Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann, regarding investment and industrial development in Punjab.
Dhillon remarked that for several years, the AAP government has made grand claims of unprecedented industrial growth and investment in Punjab through investment conferences, multi-crore MOUs, and extensive advertising. However, the reality has now come to light. According to the NITI Aayog’s Investment Friendliness Index-2026, Punjab ranks 22nd among 28 states and 8 Union Territories, highlighting the state government’s complete failure to create a favorable environment for investors.
The BJP state president criticized Kejriwal for transforming Punjab into a model of publicity rather than development. He noted that the AAP government has spent millions on advertisements, photoshoots, and self-promotion, yet new industries have not emerged, job opportunities for youth have not increased, and investor confidence has diminished. On the contrary, investor trust has steadily weakened.
Dhillon emphasized that Punjab, once regarded as a leading industrial and entrepreneurial state, is now lagging due to the AAP government’s policy failures, deteriorating law and order, and inability to instill confidence in investors. Instead of promoting industries and developing a better industrial infrastructure, the government has focused solely on political propaganda and marketing.
He asserted that Punjab needs strong law enforcement, transparent and industry-friendly policies, reliable infrastructure, ease of doing business, and serious efforts to attract new investments to create large-scale job opportunities for the youth.
Dhillon concluded that the people of Punjab are no longer swayed by advertisements and false propaganda. They demand results, economic progress, employment, and genuine development. The NITI Aayog report serves as clear evidence that false claims and multi-crore advertisements can never substitute good governance and real achievements.
He urged the Bhagwant Mann government to move beyond self-promotion and work seriously on policy stability, industrial development, restoring investor confidence, and creating jobs for the youth to make Punjab a preferred destination for investment once again.
