Young Cricket Talents Shine in Pulwamas Under-19 Tournament
The Under-19 cricket tournament in Pulwama concluded successfully, showcasing young talent and promoting sportsmanship among the youth.
Pulwama, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : The Pulwama Police successfully concluded an Under-19 knockout cricket tournament at the Lelhar Cricket Ground in Kakapora on October 14, 2026. This event, part of the Civic Action Program (CAP) 2026-27, aimed to promote sports talent and encourage creative engagement among the youth.
The tournament featured eight teams from various parts of the district, drawing enthusiastic participation from the community. The final match was contested between the Pulwama Cricket Team and the Lelhar Cricket Team, with Pulwama emerging victorious to claim the championship trophy.
The closing ceremony was attended by Pulwama’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sahil Sarangal (IPS) and other senior police officials. During his address, SSP Sarangal commended the young cricketers for their enthusiasm, discipline, and sportsmanship. He emphasized the importance of teamwork, confidence, discipline, and healthy competition in sports. He encouraged participants to continue pursuing their passion and channel their energy into positive and creative activities.
SSP Sarangal reiterated the Pulwama Police’s commitment to fostering sports through community-oriented initiatives under CAP 2026-27, which aims to nurture young talent and strengthen police-community relations.
Both the winning and runner-up teams received trophies and cash prizes, while individual honors were given for ‘Player of the Match’ and ‘Player of the Tournament’ for their outstanding performances.
This tournament provided an excellent platform for emerging cricketers to showcase their talent, develop their skills, and foster camaraderie. The Pulwama Police remains dedicated to promoting youth participation in sports and other creative activities through such initiatives.
