Gujarat Completes Over 96% Supply of Essential Goods Ahead of Diwali
Gujarat has successfully transported over 96% of essential goods to fair price shops ahead of Diwali, ensuring timely distribution for residents.

Gandhinagar, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : The Gujarat government has reported significant progress in the distribution of essential goods ahead of Diwali. Food and Civil Supplies Minister Raman Solanki announced that over 96% of the necessary items have been transported from warehouses to fair price shops across the state.
Due to the timing of Diwali this year, which falls at the beginning of November, the state has decided to provide advance distribution of essential goods in October, in addition to the regular monthly allocation for ration cardholders.
As part of this festive allocation, each ration cardholder will receive one liter of double-filtered peanut oil and one kilogram of sugar, increasing the total sugar allocation to two kilograms per card. Solanki emphasized that there is a sufficient supply of both peanut oil and sugar at the fair price shops.
State Minister for Food and Civil Supplies P.C. Baranda noted that nearly 200,000 metric tons of goods are being transported through the Gujarat State Civil Supplies Corporation, with approximately 195,000 metric tons already delivered to the shops.
In terms of specific items, 98% of the allocated wheat, rice, chickpeas, and sugar have reached the stores, while the figure for tuvar dal stands at 97%. Additionally, nearly 90% of double-fortified salt and 93% of the one-liter packets of double-filtered peanut oil have been distributed.
Operators of the fair price shops have begun distributing the goods, and ration cardholders are responding positively to the advance distribution. In Vadodara, out of a total of 227,790 oil pouches, 212,660 have been delivered to designated shops, which accounts for 93.34% of the shipment. The remaining 15,130 pouches are expected to be distributed shortly.
The advance distribution aims to ensure that ration cardholders receive not only their regular monthly supplies but also additional essential items before the Diwali festival.
