
Pune Rural Police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) at Baramati Taluka Police Station concerning the plane crash that claimed the life of Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Police officials stated that investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
Teams from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) are at the crash site, examining the circumstances to determine the reasons behind the tragic incident.
According to the police, all aspects related to the accident are being thoroughly investigated. The ADR will be handed over to Maharashtra’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which will conduct further inquiries based on the findings of the AAIB team.
Meanwhile, the final journey of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has commenced from his ancestral village Kathewadi in Baramati. The cremation ceremony is scheduled to take place at 11 am in Baramati.
Before the last rites, family members, relatives, and a large number of supporters have gathered at the Pawar family farm in Kathewadi to pay their respects.
Preparations for the funeral are underway at Vidya Pratishthan Ground in Baramati, where many senior political leaders are expected to attend.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and several other prominent political figures plan to participate in the funeral to honour the late leader.
In response to this tragic event, the Maharashtra Government has announced a three-day state mourning period. During this time, the national flag will be flown at half-mast on all government buildings across the state as a mark of respect.
The Learjet 45 aircraft involved in the accident, bearing registration VT-SSK and operated by VSR Ventures, was carrying Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar along with a Personal Security Officer (PSO), a flight attendant, and two crew members — Pilot-in-Command (PIC) Sumit Kapoor and Second-in-Command (SIC) Shambhavi Pathak.
Two fatalities have been confirmed: Vidit Jadhav (male) and Pinky Mali (female). The passenger list also included the crew members mentioned above.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has confirmed that the aircraft was a Learjet 45, registration VT-SSK, operated by VSR Ventures.
