Pune, August 16: Pune police have launched a significant operation against an alleged human trafficking and sex trade network disguised as spa centers. Authorities raided two different spas, rescuing four women in the process. Legal action has been initiated against the spa owners and managers involved.
Acting on confidential information, joint teams from the Manjari-Mundhwa and Hadapsar-Kalepadal police stations were directed to conduct these raids. The first operation took place at Nirvana Spa located in Shevalewadi, under the jurisdiction of the Manjari police station. Here, three women were safely rescued by the combined efforts of the Manjari and Mundhwa police teams.
A case has been registered at the Manjari police station, leading to the arrest of the spa owner, Sebu alias Shekhar Mubarak Ali Sheikh, a resident of Dhayrekar Colony, Mundhwa, Pune. During the raid, police seized approximately ₹95,500 worth of items, including mobile phones, laptops, an ATM swipe machine, and a PhonePe scanner.
Additionally, police took action against the spa manager, Ibadul Anwar Hussain (19), a resident of Hojai district in Assam. Items worth around ₹70,330, including a mobile phone and a PhonePe scanner, were confiscated from him. Another individual, Armaan Rahmatali Khan (20), currently residing at Machhi Market, Yerwada, Pune, was also arrested. Investigations are ongoing against an unidentified person linked to this case.
The second operation occurred at Armani Spa on DP Road in the Hadapsar police jurisdiction. Here, one victim was rescued by the joint teams from Hadapsar and Kalepadal police stations. A case has also been registered at the Hadapsar police station. The identities of the four rescued women have been kept confidential. They are currently housed at the Rescue Foundation, where they will receive necessary counseling, safety, and rehabilitation support.
Officials have emphasized that the identities of the victims will not be disclosed under any circumstances. Steps are being taken to ensure their rehabilitation and future safety.
The investigation at the Manjari police station is being led by Senior Inspector Babasaheb Nikam, while the Hadapsar police station case is under the supervision of Crime Inspector Nilesh Jagdale. Police are now focused on identifying other individuals connected to this network and uncovering the full extent of the gang’s activities.
Pune police have urged citizens to report any instances of exploitation, human trafficking, or suspicious activities involving women or girls in their vicinity. They assured that the identity of informants would be kept completely confidential. Authorities reiterated their commitment to the safety of women and girls, promising continued strict action against those involved in such illegal activities.
This entire operation was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Darade, Additional Police Commissioner (East Territorial Division) Manoj Patil, and Deputy Commissioner (Division-6) Jeevan Benival.
