
New Chandigarh, April 19: In the 29th match of IPL 2026, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) faced off against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Sunday. Batting first at the Maharaja Yadavendra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, PBKS scored an impressive 254 runs, losing 7 wickets in their 20 overs.
After losing the toss, PBKS had a shaky start. Prabhsimran Singh was dismissed by Mohammad Shami without scoring. However, Cooper Koonoli and Priyansh Arya took charge, forming a remarkable partnership for the second wicket. They added 182 runs in just 80 balls. Priyansh played a blistering innings, scoring 93 runs off just 37 balls, including 4 fours and 9 towering sixes.
Koonoli also contributed significantly, scoring 87 runs off 46 balls with a strike rate of 189, hitting 8 fours and 7 sixes. Captain Shreyas Iyer struggled with the bat, managing only 5 runs off 6 balls before being dismissed by Mohsin Khan. Nehal Wadhera also fell after scoring 13 runs off 7 balls, getting out to M. Siddharth.
In a crucial sixth-wicket partnership, Marcus Stoinis and Shashank added 44 runs in just 17 balls. Shashank scored 17 runs off 6 balls before getting out, while Stoinis made 29 runs off 16 balls before being run out. For LSG, Prince Yadav was the standout bowler, taking 2 wickets for 25 runs, while M. Siddharth also claimed 2 wickets for 35 runs. Mohammad Shami and Mohsin Khan each took 1 wicket.
Under Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy, PBKS featured players like Prabhsimran Singh (wicketkeeper), Priyansh Arya, Cooper Koonoli, Shashank Singh, Nehal Wadhera, Marcus Stoinis, Marco Jansen, Javier Bartlett, Arshdeep Singh, and Yuzvendra Chahal.
The Lucknow Super Giants, led by Rishabh Pant, included Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh, Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni, Mukul Chaudhary, Mohammad Shami, Avesh Khan, Prince Yadav, Manimaran Siddharth, and Mohsin Khan in their lineup.
