Priyanka Gandhi Criticizes Governments Inaction on Womens Safety Following Gruesome Murder of Minor

Priyanka Gandhi raises alarms over womens safety in India after the brutal murder of a minor girl in Delhi, calling for accountability.

New Delhi, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : In the wake of a shocking incident involving the brutal murder of a 17-year-old girl in New Delhi, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has voiced strong concerns regarding women’s safety in the country. She stated that no one seems willing to take responsibility for ensuring the safety of women.

On Saturday, Priyanka Gandhi took to social media platform X to express her outrage. “A 17-year-old girl was subjected to unimaginable cruelty and then barbarically killed in Delhi,” she wrote. She highlighted that just days prior, another minor girl had been raped, emphasizing the lack of accountability in addressing women’s safety issues.

Gandhi criticized the government for merely offering hollow promises about women’s empowerment while countless women suffer violence and abuse. She noted that victims often find it difficult to even get an FIR registered.

Furthermore, she stressed that both society and the government have failed to grant women the rights to safety, freedom, and equality.

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, also condemned the incident, asserting that India cannot progress without ensuring the safety of its women. He remarked on X, “A 17-year-old girl was gang-raped and murdered, with her body discarded in an open field. It is unfortunate that Delhi has become a daily horror story for women.”

Priyanka Gandhi directed her remarks at Union Home Minister Amit Shah, questioning the responsibility of the Delhi Police in ensuring women’s safety. She demanded immediate action against the perpetrators and accountability for this criminal negligence.

The case came to light on September 13, when a severely decomposed body was discovered near a field in the Shakurpur area of North Delhi. The condition of the body was so severe that police initially struggled to determine the victim’s gender.

Subsequent investigations identified the victim, revealing that four individuals, including three minors, were involved in the crime. The assailants had known the girl and had traveled with her in a tempo. During the journey, they consumed alcohol and subsequently assaulted her before fatally stabbing her and discarding her body in an open area.
