Prime Minister Modi to Unveil Over ₹4,000 Crore Projects in Sikkim on April 27-28

New Delhi, April 26: Officials announced on Sunday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Sikkim on April 27-28. He will participate in the closing ceremony of the state’s 50th foundation day celebrations and unveil several development projects worth over ₹4,000 crore.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive in Gangtok around 3 PM on April 27. On April 28, he will visit the Orchidarium in Gangtok, developed as a world-class center to showcase the state’s rich ecological and floral heritage.

Later that morning, around 10 AM, Prime Minister Modi will attend the closing ceremony of the Golden Jubilee celebrations at Paljor Stadium. He will inaugurate, launch, and lay the foundation stones for projects across various sectors, including infrastructure, connectivity, healthcare, education, energy, urban development, environment, tourism, and agriculture. He will also address the gathering.

In the healthcare sector, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for a 100-bed Ayurvedic hospital in Yangang, Namchi district, and inaugurate a 30-bed integrated Sowa Rigpa hospital at NIT Deorali.

In education, he will inaugurate the permanent campus of Sikkim University in Yangang, the administrative block of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Excellence University in Chakung, Helen Lepcha Medical College in Socheygang, and Dentam Professional College in Gyalshing district.

Additionally, a model residential school in Gyathang, a new model degree college in Mangshila, and a monastic hostel-cum-classroom in Bumtar Gumpa will also be inaugurated.

Moreover, IT-based infrastructure projects will be launched in 160 schools.

To enhance connectivity, Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stones for two double-lane steel arch bridges over the Teesta River in Sirwani and Lower Samdong. He will also inaugurate an upgraded road from Birthang to Namchi via Kichudumra.

In the energy sector, he will inaugurate the renovation of the transmission and distribution network in Gangtok.

Under urban development, projects to be inaugurated include the Jan Seva Secretariat in Lumsay, the Civil Service Officers Institute in Gangtok, housing projects under the Sikkim Urban Poor Housing Scheme, and accommodations for police personnel.

The foundation stone for the Sadbhavna Mandap on MG Marg will also be laid.

Environmental initiatives will include laying the foundation stone for the sewage system rehabilitation project in Singtam and inaugurating the pollution control plan for the Rani Chu River.

This visit marks a significant milestone in Sikkim’s Golden Jubilee year and underscores the government’s ongoing commitment to promoting inclusive and sustainable development in the northeastern region.
