Prime Minister Modi to Inaugurate Noida International Airport on March 28

Noida, March 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttar Pradesh on March 28. He is scheduled to inspect the terminal building of the Noida International Airport in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, at around 11:30 AM. Following this, he will inaugurate the first phase of the airport at approximately 12 PM and address a public gathering on the occasion.

The inauguration of the Noida International Airport marks a significant achievement in India’s journey to becoming a global aviation hub. Envisioned as a major international gateway for the National Capital Region (NCR), this airport is a crucial step towards enhancing the country’s airport infrastructure and improving regional and international connectivity. Developed as the second international airport for the Delhi NCR region, it complements the Indira Gandhi International Airport. Together, these airports will function as an integrated aviation system, reducing congestion, increasing passenger capacity, and positioning Delhi NCR as a leader among global aviation centers.

The Noida International Airport is one of India’s largest greenfield airport projects. The first phase has been developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model with a total investment of approximately ₹11,200 crores. Initially, the airport will have a passenger handling capacity of 12 million passengers per annum (MPPA), which can be expanded to 70 MPPA upon full development. It features a 3,900-meter runway capable of accommodating large aircraft, along with modern navigation systems, including an Instrument Landing System (ILS) and advanced airfield lighting, ensuring 24-hour operations in all weather conditions.

This airport will also include a robust cargo ecosystem, featuring a multimodal cargo hub, an integrated cargo terminal, and logistics zones. The cargo facility is designed to handle over 250,000 metric tons of cargo annually, with the potential to increase to approximately 1.8 million metric tons. Additionally, it will have a dedicated maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility area covering 40 acres.

The Noida International Airport is designed as a sustainable and future-ready infrastructure project, aiming to operate as a zero-emission facility by integrating energy-efficient systems and environmentally responsible practices. Its architectural style draws inspiration from Indian heritage, incorporating elements reminiscent of traditional ghats and havelis, blending cultural aesthetics with modern infrastructure.

Strategically located along the Yamuna Expressway, the Noida International Airport is planned as a multimodal transport hub, ensuring seamless integration with road, rail, metro, and regional transport systems for efficient connectivity for both passengers and cargo.
