
Kolkata, April 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to participate in seven campaign events in West Bengal, starting from April 9, as the state prepares for its assembly elections in two phases.
A member of the West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state committee stated that according to the current schedule, Modi will address three major rallies on April 9 in Asansol, located in the Paschim Bardhaman district, Suri in Birbhum district, and Haldia in East Midnapore district.
On April 11, the Prime Minister is expected to hold three more rallies in Jangipur in Murshidabad district, Katwa in East Bardhaman district, and Balurghat in South Dinajpur district.
The committee member added that Modi will spend the night of April 11 in Siliguri, located in Darjeeling district. The following day, on April 12, he will participate in a roadshow in the city of Siliguri.
Earlier this month, on April 5, the Prime Minister began his election campaign in the state, addressing a significant rally in Cooch Behar city.
According to the plan, Modi is scheduled to participate in a total of 14 campaign events, which will include rallies and roadshows. His final event will take place in the Bhawanipur assembly constituency in South Kolkata, where he will be campaigning against the current Trinamool Congress MLA and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, with opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari also contesting. This event is expected to be a mix of a rally and a roadshow.
The assembly elections in West Bengal will be held in two phases on April 23 and April 29. Voting will take place for 152 assembly seats in the first phase, while the remaining 142 seats will be contested in the second phase. The results will be announced on May 4.
